A pedigree cannot be copyrighted. There are times when certain features of pedigrees can be copyrighted, but these have to be unique features connected to the pedigree and not the pedigree itself.
If pedigrees were protected by copyright there would be no human nor animal genealogical research. Ancestry.com, the Morman Church, various genealogical groups and publications around the world that deal in human or animal recording of pedigrees and ancestors would not exist. Common Sense.
This website has been made available for researchers worldwide. There is no cost to researchers or interested parties to search through the pedigrees. It has cost thousands of dollars and the hourly toll to enter the pedigrees into the database also climbs into the thousands.
When I became interested in the pedigrees and bloodlines of the Dexters I owned, the resources were few, and they were scattered and had to be pieced together in a very time consuming and often frustrating effort and there was no early pedigree information available to access. The Legacy Registry offered an opportunity to provide for owners around the world an easier access to the pedigree information with an easy innovative search format.
It is hoped you will appreciate and find useful and educational this effort provided to the Dexter community at NO COST to participants.
Legacy works for YOU!
